Sunday Morning Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. When you arrive you will be welcomed by friendly greeters. If you would like you may receive a name tag which most of our worshipers wear since we are a friendly bunch. Grace Lutheran uses a liturgy based on ancient church patterns and rituals. Our worship is user-friendly. Whatever your background, our bulletin provides what you need to participate at whatever level you are comfortable. Most of the hymns are from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship book which is cranberry in color.
Sermons are usually based on the Gospel reading for the Sunday. Though they engage our minds, a dose of humor or a down-to-earth example helps make ancient texts fresh for today. We follow the Liturgical or Church Year calendar of readings which are read from the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible.
Our services use organ and piano. Most often we sing traditional hymns supplemented with other styles particularly when they reflect the scriptures and themes for a given Sunday. Our Adult Choir sings about twice a month.
Sunday worship begins at 9:30 a.m. and is generally about one hour long. Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday. All are welcome at the Lord’s Table. A blessing is provided for children not yet communing or for adults who prefer that option. Unleavened bread in the form of wafers is used, but sometimes we commune with real bread. We also have a gluten free option for those who have a need for it. Wine is distributed to each person from a pouring chalice into a small individual cup. White grape juice is also available for those who prefer it to wine.
Elementary school children join us for the first part of the service and then go to Sunday School after Holy Communion.
Fellowship time takes place after worship with coffee and donuts and cookies being served.
An elevator from the 3rd Street side of the church enables access to the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall.
During the Season of Lent Grace comes together for a soup supper and worship on Wednesday evenings. During Holy Week we also observe Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
